Looks like Grape Sawfly larvae, Waldheimia vitex. Sawflies are entirely different creatures than caterpillars, though they may look similiar and the damage they do is just as devastating.

I think that the sawfly larvae are easier to control than caterpillars with insecticidal soap sprays or a spinosad application. If you opt for either of the two, be sure to follow the directions and I would spray the insecticidal soap in the early evening. Be sure it gets on the insects.

The spinosad has to be ingested by the larvae in order to be effective but the I.S. must come into physical contact while it is still wet.

Sawfly larvae grow rapidly, feeding all the time. You won't be very tolerant of them in a couple of days.

I'm pretty confident that these are sawfly larvae and not caterpillars. If the image was better, I'd be 100% certain one way or the other. Look up sawfly images and let us know if I'm right or wrong!

if its just a few leaves ... cut those leaves off.. and get rid of the majority of the problem ... and dont worry about the rest ...

i would be surprised to hear that a giant load of eggs like that.. is on every leaf .. if so.. then go nuclear and what rhiz said ...

since its a fruit plant ... insure timing of any chem sprays.. as to eating them ... and you might also check in .. in the fruit forum ...

Insecticidal soap and spinosad is NOT going nuclear; both are used by organic gardeners for edible crops.
