I like the rug. It is very soft. I have two young children and it seems to take the traffic very well.

I think a large piece of artwork with lots of color would bring interest to a rather neutral space.

C F I like the lamps. Also, I am taking suggestions on the chair too. The white chair was a leftover that we moved from another room just to give us seating until we find the right chair.

Here are a couple of examples of "concepts" for artwork over the long side of sectional. I see most of your selections are "quiet", so perhaps you need a little pizzaz! Of course, you could keep it quiet with water color type look. Main thing is the piece should be long and low over the back of the sofa. About 6-8" above back of sofa. A couple companion pieces could be on the short wall as well. You also could use some "dimension" on the entertainment unit, such as sculptures or pieces that speak about the art. So, for example, if you choose quiet, water color type look, with seascapes, you could put large Conch shell, barnacle display piece, Anchors carved from sunken ship, that kind of thing, to mix with some books and other items. Big piece so it needs some "grounding". You have storage below behind closed doors for DVDs etc, so the upper areas can be mostly decorative. So, select the "type of scene" you would like, the basic color palette and then hunt around. Wonderful space to enjoy many hours of family/movie time. I also like C Fs ideas on lamp and that chair. A lower back swivel chair might work well. Or a compact recliner.

On the topic of accent wall. I don't see that, but what might be worth thinking about is once you select art work, pick a color you like from it and paint the back wall of each of the cubbies in the entertainment unit in that color, or wallpaper them. They will bring some dimension to that unit and fun feeling.

I just purchased the same rug. Trying to decide whether to keep it.

Thanks for the "dimension" suggestion on the builtin, Flo Mangan. What do you think about putting a grass cloth wallpaper on the back of the cubbies? And if so, natural, dark grey? Here are pictures of some other rooms in my house. It is a very open concept mid-century modern so all of the rooms really need to coordinate.

That would be nice IF you can get a color, and not beige or gray. It looks like you like accents of aqua or turquoise so I would use that color, but wait until you select the artwork piece for above the long side of the sectional. Beautiful house and overall look is really great. Well done! My only suggestion overall, is watch how you hang your artwork. It is OK from what I see, but it also tends to look all at the same level and you get a kind of "line" affect. Not a big deal, just mention it so you can take that into consideration. Very cool house though.

You have a beautiful living room. I love the neutral color scheme and the wall unit. Here are my suggestions to add that final touch you are looking for:

1) make sure you use all niches of your wall unit by adding artwork, books, picture frames, vases, etc. I have attached a photo of a recent project that i did with the same wall unit concept.

2) Add a picture to the wall behind your sectional. Try to go for a colorful but yet harmonious image to add the accent while keeping the serenity of your space. Below there are some photos of artwork for your ref. Colorful pillows will also enhance the look and bring it all together.

3) add lighting in between your sectional and the white chair and also next to your window, between the wall unit and the sectional. The option suggested in this forum for a standing lamp is great for the space between your sectional and the white chair. It will bring some height to your living room. For the second spot of lighting ( between wall unit and window), my suggestion is a side table and a table lamp.

You have a wonderful neutral palette. Select artwork that you LOVE LOVE LOVE! Don't just put something on the wall to fill the space. Pick something that makes your heart sing and you'll never outgrow it.
