That's a tough call. Looks like maple which can really vary in how the stain comes out. As you can see, some rails & stiles are very different. I usually avoid using certain stain tones on maple due to this unless it has been discussed with the client.

It's not plastic. it's made from trees. That is 1000% normal for real wood.

It is maple wood but I was assured it would be even staining before I proceeded with the project. I know it's real wood and not plastic, but why do all the islands and cabinets in pics on Houzz look so even in their staining?

There are different grades of wood & different staining techniques, a lot has to do with price. One of my suppliers finishes by hand to provide a furniture grade finish, all those variances are toned to even everything out. Also, many of those great kitchens are professionally staged and photographed and then adjusted/corrected in programs such as Photoshop.

You can't go by Houzz pics, which are staged and often photo shopped. It doesn't look bad on my phone monitor, just a natural variation that adds interest, but you are the one seeing it in person and who has to live with it, so if you are unhappy discuss it with cabinet provider.
