Creeping raspberry groundcover

Hello,
I recently noticed groundcover at my place of work which has nice orange raspberries growing on it! Turns out this is a variety of Creeping Raspberry, aka Creeping Bramble "Rubus hayata-koidzumii" "rubus pentalobus" etc, etc. It looks like a tough, good-looking groundcover, and the fruits are a plus as well!
I was thinking about planting this in an area that needs groundcover. Does anyone know anything about how to grow it? How many small plants would I need for a 5ftx20ft area?

Also, could it promote and spread diseases to my raspberry canes which I planted earlier this year?

Thanks!
