Yes, It is very low. You will not be able to see over a banister on a balcony. It is basically 2 very low twin beds put together. It feels like you are always lying down when you are on it. It is very deep so your feet do not touch the ground when sitting on it.

Do not buy this. I did and am completely unhappy. It's way too deep. It's way too flimsy. And you bottom out when sitting on it. I had to buy foam and have it wrapped, just to make it bearable. Ultimately it's just too deep and too thin and too uncomfortable to use on a regular basis.
