I picked cream cabinets (all our woodwork is cream) and white applicances for my kitchen 14 years ago and am still happy with the look. I wanted white because I felt like they looked more old fashioned and traditional than stainless and "new old house" was the look I was going for. I have read since then that this was a design no-no, but I've been happy with my kitchen for a long time now! It HAS been frustrating as we have had to replace appliances over the years because there are so very few choices in white. Another disadvantage I've found is that over the long haul, some of the handles/trim on my white appliances yellowed over time. I recently had to replace my beloved Bosch range in this picture and was dismayed to find they only make stainless now and I ended up with a "meh" KitchenAid in white from the limited choices available in my budget. I debated going with a stainless range to widen my choices, and do think stainless would probably look nice in my kitchen, but it's not really my thing and I don't have the budget to rip them all out and start over, nor the desire to have a mish-mash of colors that would result from replacing one at a time. In the end, it's your kitchen; do what makes you happy!
