I have had Danby marble in my kitchen for about 2 years now. It is indeed beautiful, durable and dense. It was sealed by the installer/fabricator and has NO STAINS. It does, however, etch, and can chip if you drop something on it. I also have Calacatta marble in my bathroom, and it also has held up well.

If you can appreciate the beauty of natural marble, and are aware of its properties, that it is a "living finish," it's wonderful. If you want a surface that is going to look shiny and new forever, then it's probably not for you. Do a lot of research--there is so much information on the internet, and at stone yards--before you make your choice.
