Neutral is timeless. To this base add accent colors that can be changed out with the season on when you get bored. Replace white tray, fruit bowl and vase with a pop of color. Will make a big difference. For the color, look to adjacent rooms to ties rooms together OR look to your closet for colors you obviously favor.

Neutral subway tiles are a very classy look! Since the photo is kind of dark on my computer, I can't tell you if the tile was done correctly or not.

I think some bowls and accents in a matte black would look really good on the counter and tie everything together

It looks okay....not great. Add a few accessories in a color - not white, and I am assuming that a door will go on the cabinet that does not have one.

I think the tiles are great but you need some contrast in the cabinetry the white of the tiles is so clean and the cabinets look a little dinghy white... What about painting them a contrasting color. Black is probably too radical and maybe too dark, maybe red...?

Treat yourself to a custom Roman shade with or without valance in a vibrant color. Then a few accessories. Backsplash's importance will fade from view. It looks fine.

I like it. Looks very nice and clean. I would add some cranberry or black accents. Large fruit bowls or a large platter. Definitely a colorful Roman shade or a tension rod halfway with clips and cute tea towels.

It's a nice, classic look but the window frame and backsplash do not appear to flatter the cabinets color wise.

Overall a nice job. I would've preferred a crackle beveled subway tile from Adex with the glazed cabs. Put this passes fine. Hopefully you will have under cabinet lighting? It's a must.

I think it's too late to change your mind. What don't you like about it? Your cabinets appear creamier than the stark white backsplash, but it's fine.

You could have a custom Roman shade fabricated to bring all the colors together. Would soften the area and give some texture.

another thought - In my previous home, I had a small bathroom with white penny floor tiles, white bead board, white ceiling, white tub, toilet and sink, white tiles in the shower, white door and white trim. (I couldn't possibly go with a white shower curtain!!) I too thought it was stark, so I painted the door and its trim and the window trim a very light beige. It really made a big difference.

So, you could possibly paint your window trim a slightly different color - say a linen color - to give some contrast. And maybe add a cool clock above the window.

The tile looks nice n the countertop. But I'm not sure I like it with the cabinets. They don't look white enough. More like a cream with some sort of dark color in the insert panels of the cabinets. To me that look like a French look n tile looks more modern.. But it's hard to tell in pictures.

OK so to my eye the backsplash looks too white and it's kind of driving me nuts. I may be making a huge deal for nothing...but does anyone think that changing the grout color (currently it pretty much matches the subway tile) would make it look maybe not so white compared to our cabinets? The cabinets were professionally painted white dove bm with a glaze in the crevices of the doors and I was assured that the lacquer the painter used wouldn't turn them yellow...well the cabinets are definitely creamy in Color (which I don't mind that-I just think the white tile with the cream is bugging me). Any thoughts on using a grout paint/stain? Just throwing that out there. I may just have to get over it and learn to love it:) thanks again!!

white tile, creamy cabinets. your counter has to be the tie breaker. i can see its white like the tile. does it also have creamy like the cabinets? if so, dont worry any more, once your kitchen is lived in your eyes will even it all out.

if the counter doesnt have creamy patches, then changing to anything creamy in the backsplash will just make the counter stand out.

anyway, i can see what is bugging you, but i wouldnt go messin' with the grout. go for some brighter small appliances and decor and it will all be ok.

White dove is a warm white, your backsplash is cool white. Did you have a sample of the cabinets when choosing the backsplash? There are hundreds of shades and temperatures of white.

SandyC. I had a sample of the paint not a door...so that's probably where I went wrong. And this has been a very long remodel project and of course tile is at the end so at that point I really didn't care...thought it looked good with the swatch and went with it:)

Nngirt...yes the counter is Alaska white granite...it has whites and cream.

Starting to feel a bit better...it's just hard when things don't quite turn out the way you have pictured! And I think that's right....the more we live here the less I'll notice it!
