The sandpaper feel is normal on some varieties of fig trees. I have a
few of those where the leaves are stiff and rough. I have others with
very smooth leaves. We had a severe heat wave a month ago where temps
rose above 112 degrees F. Many of my fruit trees including figs were
damaged and have yellowing or brown edges.

Are you in a hot, dry location or a steamy tropical one?

Your leaves look very dry around the holes, which could have been caused by winds.

I live in the UK. Average temp is 10c to 20c during the year however today it is 32c but these leaves have been like this for a while now. It's been planted around 2 month ago from a nursery.

i water nearly every day when it's been sunny and hot. Otherwise it rains here quite a lot.

this is a brown turkey variety that's supposed to be hardy for my location.

its in a 40l airpot.

Figs don't like wet feet. That means they don't like their roots to be sitting in water. What kind of planting mix do you have in your pot? It should be well drained so it is barely damp. I think you might be watering too often.

I do live in a Mediterranean climate which is perfect for figs, but even here, we only give our figs in containers water 3 x a week. Ours are on drip systems so they get a slow drip for about 45 minutes when they are watered.

The soil in the containers is about one part potting soil, one part perlite and one part local sandy dirt (from our property) Our local dirt is very coarse sand and drains well. Be sure the planting mix in your container is very well draining.

The brownish grey spots on the bottom leaf look like there is just a rotting problem from too much water.

Not sure about the holes, unless the plant went from complete cloudcover to hot sun and got a little sunburned. Figs don't have a lot of bugs that bother them. They are pretty tough. Too much water will kill them.

There is a cheap little thing you can get online. Google the word, "Soil Sleuth," It's just a plastic stick with notches and a pointed end. CHEAP! You can even make one yourself from a stick. You insert it into the soil, turn it, and pull it back up. The soil sticks in the notches and you can see and feel how moist or dry the soil is. This little thing will help you understand when it is time to water. It also aerates the soil, which is a good thing too.

I bet that would clear up if you added worm castings to the pot ;)

this would provide the plant everything it needs, giving it enough strength to resist bugs, fungus, nematodes, etc.
