Need end table for this lamp

My grandfather made this lamp in the 20's or 30's. He was a wrought iron metal artist. I recently got the lamp from my brother.

I want to use it in my LR but need an end table....see space in pics. I'm thinking glass top. I don't want an espresso finish because I have other espresso pieces in the room.

The lampshade will be replaced...should I get a drum shade?

The space for the table is 36" against the back wall and the little side wall is 24" deep. The arm of the sofa is 26" high.

My style is modern/contemporary/transitional.

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

I think to modernize it a bit, but also in keeping with its unique base, I'd add a rectangular lamp shade like this:

What a neat lamp! That's pretty amazing.

I like the idea of a drum shade or one like Lisa posted.

I also like the idea of a glass table. I'd maybe consider finding something square or rectangular since the lamp has an overall round shape to break it up.

What a beautiful lamp your grandfather made! And how special that you are now its guardian.

I also like the idea of a glass table. Something subtle that allows the lamp to be in the foreground.

I'd take that very special lamp to a good lighting shop where the
staff is trained to know the best style and shape shade to go with it. I
love the rectangular one that Lisa posted, but I don't feel it's the
right shape for the lamp.

I recently made this lamp after buying
it from eBay as shown in the second pic. A rectangular shape is right
for this one due to the shape of the base.
