Opalka tomato questions...

So..grew it last year and loved it so much that I saved seed and planted a lot of them this year. They did not come true from seed, tomatoes are round(tasty!), but not the Opalka or even a paste tomato.

I know some others on here grew it last year and loved it as well..wondering if anyone else has had this problem?

None of the fruit on several plants have the correct appearance? That would be quite unusual in my experience with the variety. I have had a few rounds turn up now and then but the majority of the fruit on each plant are clearly Opalka. Do the plants have the typical wispy leaf appearance of Opalka? If not then I would suspect a seed mix up of some kind.

The leaves look correct, but they clearly have round fruit! I don't know if they crossed with something ...could have...but I am sure that I saved and labeled the seeds correctly..I really liked them and couldn't wait to grow more this year! Always next year! Not a total loss..fruit that I'm getting is tasty!

I've been growing Opalka and saving seed for several years and have never gotten a cross. As Dave mentioned, maybe you have a seed cross.
