Your best bet would be to purchase 1 sheet and take it home to see in your surroundings and lighting. Looking at photos online or samples in a showroom do not give justice compared to having the actual product in your own surroundings.

I would absolutely agree ... I would suggest taking a step back - how much work are you looking to do in the bathroom? The fact that the shower is already finished and these shell tiles would be a backsplash for the sink it doesn't necessarily matter if they are an exact match - they just need to compliment each other...you also need to fold that tile mesh so you are just looking at 3 or 4 rows of it - does it give you the same feel as when you look at the whole 12 x 12 sheet?? A backsplash in this situation is less impactful than a kitchen splash. If you really are looking to update, you may want to get rid of the light and those overhead cabinets and then maybe do the splash to the bottom of the medicine cabinet... since you have a Corian countertop, give it a good buffing ( look on their website for the proper Scotch Brite pad to use ) it will brighten it up and make it look brand new...

I am so excited I am almost giddy to have advice from professionals and talented lay decorators on decorating my home. I do plan to try to update and fix this up nicely eventually, but I have a whole house to do and I have a tight budget. I can DIY little things, I'm pretty handy with a paintbrush and I can sew with the best. I've done lots of tiling. I wouldn't have probably chosen marble, but I'd like to make the best of it-I know it can be gorgeous. I will probably replace the light. as far as the cupboards up high, I like the idea of the storage. Probably the most frequent "guests" to use this room will be my grand children, and I need a place to store their toys. Is there any way to keep it and not have it look tacky? If I painted it the wall color, would it maybe "disappear"? Same with the medicine cabinet, it's not really the elegant look I would like, but it's practical for storage. is there a way to make it look better? I would prefer silver toned fixtures as well. maybe paint the cabinetry. I'd love to have a short term fix and a long term plan.

If you want to paint that upper cabinet I would say go for it! Make sure to prep it right or you will surely have problems... try to at least change the light fixture and paint the frame of the Medicine cabinet as well - match the wall color so it fades away...as far as storage for the grand kids toys you could do a cute basket for each on the far wall...

Thank you Debbie for the specific ideas. I like the idea of pretty baskets on the wall for the bath toys. Regarding the light fixture, would it be silly to have something with a little sparkle? I'm thinking along the lines of that shabby chic with crystal chandelier look. Maybe a little white lace and soaps in some of my old cut glass dishes? If that works, would you still use the brown baskets?

This is where it gets to be fun.... put in the things that make you happy! If you are handy enough your things can be designed by you! You can sew so that would be a big plus... find baskets you like - add your own loops and sew a liner that fold over the edges and trim them with beaded bric-a-brac for sparkle!

your bathrooms are quite sharp. I particularly like the skinny tile placed vertically. I will be putting a shower in one of our bathrooms and I might steal that idea. house is a treasure trove of genius.
