That stinks, Zach! There was a 74 mile an hour wind gust at DIA a few days ago. I have a bunch of sunflowers and coreopsis laying flat here. Nothing to do but pick up, clean, up and move on.

Luckily I think my mood was worse than the damage, Barb. Like I said, it was kind of a crappy day from the get go.... I did lose one corn stalk, but, I think we will survive, everything seems to have recovered fine.

74 MPH at DIA!? I work right across the street from there and I haven't noticed much more than a breeze. Don't get me wrong with as sticky and muggy as it has been this week, the breeze is amazing.

Sounds almost like a micro-burst, Zach. Had one last year here that scared the crap out of me - it seemed to have come out of no where and suddenly the wind was roaring and the tree branches were thrashing - but it actually did little to no damage. Glad all is recovering for you - and hope all is well with your plants, too, Barb.

Doesn't seem to be any more windy here in Westminster than it usually is, but the heat and the mugginess have settled right in. A breeze would be quite welcome....

Understood, Zach. As I have said before, I don't know how farmers can handle the stress of worrying about the weather and what it will or won't do to their crops. No matter what we do, no matter how advanced our knowledge and technology might be, in the end Mama Nature determines whether or not we are going to be successful. And we haven't done much to appease Her in the last century or so.....

In 2014, my tomato plants were in large (20 gal+ ) containers that all got blown over. in late August. My tomtao plants now go in the ground.
