Calacatta gold is a beautiful and very high end marble and from these photos obviously very beautiful! :P The first picture is calacatta gold while the second and third are still in the calacatta family but more of a Calacatta Onda or Michealangelo. (The veining indicates the different colors)

I've done several projects with them but be fair warned that since it is marble there is more maintance involved. I advise my clients to seal the stone in an actively used kitchen maybe every 8 months or so. The sealing still wont prevent etching on the surface but helps stains a bit. If you spill citrus juices or wine make sure you clean it up right away or it could soak in, stain, and etch the surface. ALWAYS use cutting boards/hot pads/trivets to help protect the surface too.

It's a more porous stone so you have to accept the fact that a few years down the road it might not have the same showroom look it has today-it will patina over time. A lot of people love the look of patina on marble but again, its personal preference-make sure you like it!

Thank you for your input! I have marble all over my house, on my antiques and in my bathrooms (full floor/showers) and am very familiar with it. But was guessing because of the veining, etc, it might not be as big of a deal if there is some etching or stains? I just can't get away from how beautiful it is and would want to use it for counters and backsplash (full slab)! Maybe when I see the price my mind might change.... ;-)

If you already have experience with it, that's great!! I can't tell you how many people go into marble without prior knowledge. I agree with you that the veining and movement will hide any imperfections. So beautiful!

I think the first one is Calcutta Gold and the others are Italian Calacutta which has no gold in it. Is this right? I'm confused by names and they appear to be used interchangeably but for arguably different products.
