What size sofa

I want to get a new sofa and don't want to get one that is too small or too large for my room. The wall behind the sofa is 14' long . The room is approximately 14' X 16" and the ceiling is open 2 stories with a loft that looks over. I don't want a sectional. The sofa I have now is about 84" long and I wonder if a sofa that is only 80" long would be too small. Thanks for your thoughts.

4" is not a huge difference. Better to look at the bulk of the furniture. Overstuffed or sleek? That will make a bigger visual impact.

My favorite size is 72". More than 2 people will never sit on a sofa and you need room for end tables and lamps.

Thanks for your response. I think that with my living room being open two stories a smaller sofa might look "lost" in the room. I still have room for end tables with an 84" sofa. But...the smaller sofa is very comfortable for me since I am short. So that's my dilemma.
