installing new hardwood flooring

Hello, need help!
we are replacing (completely ripping out and installing) new floors. We have plywood subfloors. second story of our house. We live in northern california. We are looking to go with solid hardwood flooring. something with higher janka rating (we have a toddler and big dogs) and also lower VOCs so would prefer to stick with solid hardwood. So far we have liked Acacia and Cumaru, but now i am reading that Cumaru tends to shrink. Can anyone recommend a species of floor for our area that would be hard and would not shrink? Much appreciated!!
