Using masterblend with coir?

While doing my research I've read in a few places coir holds onto certain nutrients particularly phosphorus, slowly releases its small amount of potassium and doesn't hold onto calcium to well. These same places always recommend a coir based nutrient for "best results"

My issue with that is, well I just don't buy it. I'm not disagreeing it may hold onto these nutes but buying a specially formulated nutrient seems like a marketing scheme. Phosphorus can be flushed out if necessary, if it does become necessary it will probably only need to happen once, maybe twice.

I wish to use masterblend 4-18-38 that will be supplemented with calcium nitrate so calcium will never been an issue. Mind you calcium nitrate is the chemical they use to buffer coir to mitigate the effects of nutrient lock out.

a brief quote from a pdf describing why buffering is important/nute lockout

"If the coco coir cation exchange complex is not buffered, the positively charged cations
applied to the plants like calcium and magnesium will have a stronger attraction to the
coco complex and become unavailable to plants (nutrient lockup), while potassium and
sodium, less attached to the complex, will be displaced, come into solution and be taken
up by the plant instead of calcium. "

So basically I will be using a pre-buffered coir, fertilizing with masterblend + calcium nitrate +MgSo4, my question is does anyone here have experience with coir without speciallity nutes or have any experience that may help make a judgement call on wether to use or not use masterblend+coir?
