Hard to tell from pics but I think you need to move your sectional forward (if possible) and away from wall so that you can walk around and behind it. That will help fill in that void. If that's not possible, you could do a console table under the window with a couple or storage ottomans. Then you could use as desk or laptop area and more seating if necessary.

That corner needs something! I'd add a corner bookshelf perhaps or a big plant/small tree.

Here is a fun bookcase that could work in that corner....and I also think another chair would look good.

Looks like your layout needs some tweeking. Center your rug on the fireplace, and center the ottoman on the fireplace. Then place your furnishings from there. That may adjust how much space you actually have available in the room.

It's not a huge room so I'm just concerned hat pulling the furniture in wont allow me to add an additional seat. Or I shouldn't worry about why? There's only three of us at home... With very occasional company over.i really appreciate everyone's help!!!

You could definitely add that console table under the window to complete that space. Or, consider a corner table or shelf with decorative objects. If you don't absolutely need more seating in the room, don't crowd it.

One of the major things you are now missing is art on the walls! Adding interest with some wonderful pieces of art will work to bring your room together, and add a splash of color. Right now it looks like you have a lot of neutrals. Give your room personality with a variety of artwork that breaks out of that palette and spices it up.

You need two chairs, and then because you picked that chair I would change out the coffee table so they are not of the same material. Then I would put a cabinet or some sort of console type table on the wall behind the two chairs.

Thanks everyone! Beverly I centered it and it made a bit of a dif already :). Still debating that second chair. I should mention it's a swivel so not sure how that works with a table in between?

Nancy love the idea of a console table with some sort of seating underneath however the window is pretty low. 27" floor to windowsill....

I think a larger rug may help. You have no casegoods and need a tall piece somewhere. Lamps too and art. Are those rads under the windows. Looks like there skewed just enough to mess with hanging drapes. Try fabric roman or faux roman shades. I agree that you need two matched chairs (swivels can't use a table between them) and a different coffee table. Something with a bit of metal to inject some bling would be nice.
