Color. It needs color and pattern.

I want to keep the white walls....other than that, can you be more specific? ;-)

Window treatments and a carpet under the table

Window treatments. Rug. Some personal items.

So, I'm actually dying for a rug under the table. I'm thinking an oriental style with reds and turquoise. Will that be too busy for my floor? If so....suggest rug ideas! Thanks!

I want natural bamboo shades. We just did this kitchen/nook project from the Sheetrock out...everything is new. Shades will have to wait for now, large windows! But that's my plan eventually!!!

It might be hard to find a rug that will fit into the space without interfering with your walkway. I would skip the rug and use texture or color on window treatments instead.

Talk plants in the corners if they will fit.

    I meant tall plants

I agree that you need beautiful drapes and rug! That will help soften the look and make it look more like a home. Here are some suggestions:

Drapes in this color would look great since you have this color already in your art! A chandelier above the table would make it dressier too.

An oriental rug would be perfect and not too busy since you have a lot of solid, neutral colors in the room.

A tall, slim corner bookcase in one corner with books and decorative items, and a plant in the other corner. A nice hanging light with jewel tones of some sort over the table. A large rug, again with some jewel tones or something to go with the art on the wall.

The print on the wall, while attractive, is behind glass. With all the glass in the windows, and door, that is just too much glass. You need texture in your art, organic elements on that countertop in the kitchen and some live plants.

I would probably go with roman shades on the windows just because I don't care for long drapes in an area that has to be swept frequently.

Whatever art you use, pick up one of the colors in the art in your table runner. Then carry that same color onto your counter with accessories. It will tie the two areas together and add more warmth.

Thanks to everyone who posted their ideas yesterday! Many were what I've been thinking all along. Hubby just wants me to leave it alone for now but that's not how I roll. I need to personalize it and make it more warm and inviting! I will post updates when I get a few done! Thanks again!!! :-)

Hi Sue - some original colourful abstract art would look fantastic in that space. I have attached a few examples. Please visit my website for more ideas and feel free to contact me: www.corinnenatel.co.uk
