There are faucets that cost $100, and faucets that cost $2500.

Spray or pull down? Single handle?

cpartist- OK i should have said "reasonably priced" for which you prob also would have commented on. Anyway, a faucet priced under $600.

mimipadv- spray and pull down- sorry! I would prefer single handle over two but not 100% set on it. Considering all options. Thank you!

I second the rec for Grohe faucets. They make great faucets and have a nice selection. As for sinks, if you haven't looked at them yet, check out Silgranit sinks. A lot of people on GW (myself included) really like their Silgranit sinks.

We have theDelta Leland and really like it. Our sink is a Kohler Cape Dory, which is cast iron enamel.

We have a Kohler Artifacts faucet and love the sweep spray feature. Also really like our single bowl Silgranit sink and wouldn't trade it for any other material.

When we were deciding it was very helpful to go to a large kitchen/bath showroom where we could see various faucets in action and play with their features. This also really helped me decide on a faucet finish/sink material.

Even if you order on line, going somewhere to look first is a big help. Some faucets are quite tall and could overpower the area - depending on the size and configuration. I spent a lot of time looking at build.com and Wayfair to see what I liked and reading reviews. We went with a bar sink faucet that was a little smaller. I love the pull out/down sprayer feature. I think ours is a Hansgrohe. You might start with looking at Moen, Delta, and Kohler.

My one regret with the kitchen is getting a Kohler BLACK cast iron sink. I can't figure out how to get the hard water film off. Koehler has been NO help. I like cast iron and the sink style but wish I had gotten a stainless sink. Life was easier with all white sink and appliances. I do like the design of the sink too - double bowl with a low divide. I suggest checking out Starcraft's faucet reviews. Polished chrome will be the least expensive finish in a faucet and it's just as durable as the others.

Is SS finish sink more likely to scratch?

The scratch question turns out to be important, not from a functional standpoint, but a cosmetic one. There are folks on here who absolutely can't stand the scratchy look of a well used SS sink. Me, I never even noticed said "scratches" until someone here brought it up. If you are one of those for whom scratches send you running and angsting out of the room, don't get SS.

Some people love white porcelain sinks. I hate the way they mark up from everything that touches them. OK with SS "scratches," not OK with gray streaks on porcelain. Go figure.

Then there are Silgranit sinks. There are a number of folks here who love them, and they come in many colors. Worth looking at just to decide if you like them.

A feature to consider with a spray faucet is whether it resets to stream or stays on spray when you turn it off and then turn it on again.We have the Moen Arbor in a brushed stainless steel. It resets to stream, which I preferred. We decided to not get a touch on faucet after seeing so many that don't work in public places! The Moen functions beautifully for us and was only about $200. I like SS sinks, have Elkays. Best of luck!

We didn't intend to get matching brands for the sink and faucet but both ended up being Kohler.

My sink is the Kohler Strive. It's perfect for me because I'm used to a double bowl but love how singles can fit such large items in them. The Strive has a low divide so it's like getting both a double and single sink. It's a SS sink which is the only material I've ever had for kitchen sinks. I really wanted to get a Blanco Silgranit sink but the super low depth worried me.

The faucet we chose is the Kohler Artifact. We originally wanted a commercial style pre-rinse style faucet but wanted one with a pull down head. Couldn't find any quality ones in our price range (less than $1000) so we started looking at pull down style faucets. The Artifacts is beautiful and has awesome functions (three different spray options, magnetic docking).

I can't wait to get both installed and start using them!!

ck_squared question for you- I haven't had a chance to go look at the grohe faucets in person yet, I am wondering are they long/curved enough that when in use the water doesn't get around the countertop? especially by the base of the faucet? My sister in law recently purchased a grohe faucet (she's clueless about the model) loves it but does say some water gets around.

You mentioned wanting a 28" sink and I believe that there are very few in that size -- most brands go 25" then the next size is 30". But Blanco makes a nice 28" (26" interior width): the Blanco 'Stellar', which I have, and it is a perfect size for me. Fits into a 30" base, as well. Stainless steel single basin with drain offset to the rear.

Just installed a Blanco Silgranite sink (giant single bowl) today with a Grohe faucet in our new house. Makes the kitchen a bit better. The previous only sink in the kitchen was barely bigger than a prep sink and there was no way I could function like that!!
