Thank you everyone for the suggestions. I learned something new. I thought because the sofa had a pattern I was limited to a solid rug. I'm going to try something with a similar pattern that Bev suggested but with no borders. I still would like to add an additional color to the room but not sure which one. I don't want it to be just burgundy and crème. Any suggestions? I'm thinking the color be in the the art or an additional chair. The room is bigger than the picture shows.

Denise, can you send another picture with the area? my suggestion is to you use a plain color for your rug as your sofa is busy.

Greens go great with burgundy. It could be a brighter yellow green/citrus or sage. Lighter tones to darker tones.

This is one of the prettiest 'inexpensive' rugs I've seen. It has some pattern, but it's saturated enough to have contrast with your furniture / and floors. Almost color of the pillow... just an idea:

I'm open to the different ideas so that's why I didn't post what I like or dislike. This room is the first seen when someone walks in my house. The other pieces I add to the room will come after I decide on the rug. The room can play off the sofa but I prefer more off the rug. I also like the idea of a rug with no border and changing out the pillows. I'm open to patterns or solid. As previously mentioned, I was thinking a solid because the sofa in my opinion was busy. TeeJay the love seat is smaller than the sofa.

The 'bright' eggplant rug could be ok [or another such rug] if it's the same hue as your pillow / just darker, which from here seems dark burgundy/ wine.... have to test...

have you thought of using just one couch? the two of them will definitely lead the design of the room no matter what the rug. i think this one would work and possibly open the color scheme up a touch?
