sorry everyone, was a busy day. here's the dimensions on the coffee table

I was really watching size and think the 30.5" would be a good fit. Question is could something similar be found for less? But I really love this one and also like the 3 table group.

One of the many things I like about the "group" is it is useful now and in the future. You can move them around. I like pieces that will work in other settings should you have a need. Move 18 times, so I have very mindful of keeping things "flexible". Never say never! Larger pieces tend to be much less that way. But sometimes you gotta have it!

Found a couple that have sturdier tops, gold and open bottoms.I think these are mirror tops though. These look to be all metal. Kind of neat. Might be nice beside chairs or the far end of sofa. Once gold or silver is decided upon.Interesting. That's it gang. Nite!

Hi All, flying yesterday was a disaster. Also, my son (1 1/2) was literally mewling for water on the plane and Spirit Airlines wouldn't give it to him because my purse was packed and I only had cash available. No water for the toddler! We'll never fly Spirit again. Sigh. Meanwhile, the first thing I did when I got home was move the couch and it made such a difference! I actually love it again! Now, just to find the perfect table. I really like the direction we're going in, but I worry that everything looks like something that should be climbed, toppled, or turned over and sat in -- these are things that happen here a fair bit. How do you guys feel about this table as something similar but more hearty?

Finally, I felt like there was some strong dislike for my shelves lol. I thought they were just simple! That seems like something I can work on as I wait for the chairs. I have something large and architectural fairly close by (as some of you will know), so I've been searching for something that is not a statue or figurine for the top. Thinking antiquities style vases or large plates of some sort. I am also going to get a smaller tv. What do you hate about the photos Flo?

Also including office shelves, in case they need work too!

I like the PB gold table. It looks sturdy enough for kids & b/c it's not polished it will hide dings kids may cause. As for the top shelves, if not speakers w/ robust 15" woofers, why not some cloisonne vases or urns that pick up the colors in the paisley for your chairs? My late uncle brought back some cloisonne for my late mother (his sister) from Japan when he served there during Korean War. I didn't appreciate them then, but they were beautiful. The red one is similar to what he brought back, but the pair seem to have more of the colors of your chair fabric. This finish on cloisonne really picks up light. I love the wood finish in your office.

Oh Bruce, you know me so well! Which of the children will I need to pawn for this pair?

lol! I like the table T, but the shelves do all need work. Keep a few of the photos in the room. take a large one and set a small one in front of it. Then try adding some books laying down with something decorative set on top of them. Lots of things could be used that don't break. (:

Re the uppers next to fireplace, they're high, deep & dark. You have electrical on right side for TV. I would suggest some dimmable LED strip lighting like under K upper cabs behind the valances to showcase whatever you put up there. LEDs b/c they're somewhat closed in & halogens produce heat. Maybe have done when doing Calliope's lighting.

This room is gorgeous also! What a cool house!

Flo is doing an amazing job. I like her idea about storage behind the couch. Makes "clean up" so easy for the kids!

Why must the art of shelving be so hard?! Currently I have a shelf for us, a shelf for our children, and then a shelf for my nuclear family and one for his. if I'm starting from scratch, which frames to keep?

My Salvation Army donation room, aka my sunroom, also has some knick knacks that could be incorporated into the shelves and a potential sofa table? I think it's too small, but it can't hurt to ask.

Shelving does not have to be so hard, we just try to include every single thing in them!!!

I think the pictures may be too large. Try attaching a long picture to the back of the shelf, on the upper 1/3 and then another picture setting on the shelf and something on the shelf that relates to them.....a tchotchke from a visit with them, or something they have given you.

I kind of like the IKEA squares. Cheap, look decent and in a few years when you do not need them, you don't feel like you have to keep them because you've spent a fortune on them!!! The Kallax can be placed vertically or horizontally and is the perfect size for baskets.

Good call Kathi! I'm guessing this is an instance where less is more.

More to my point in last post, this is my mantel project from '13, but it's not the subject now. Virtually everything on it has to do w/ family. The painting is where my mother & her brother spent their summers after their father was killed during robbery in '33. The fired pieces were by my sis-in-law who sold in studios & was invited by medicine man to teach Pima children lost art of pottery, the Lladro a gift to my wife when she retired, the glass vase a wedding gift from wife's BFF, etc., etc. To me, it's primacy of family.

Re Olympics, I'm sports fan, but I'm not going to watch endless string of commercials interspersed w/ Bob Costas' inane comments w/ an occasional actual competition inserted here and there. I wish it weren't NBC covering.

Man, if you watch swimming, you would think Michael Phelps and Le Clos had started a world war. NBC is good for stretching out some drama. I'm going to spend this evening working on my office shelves next!

Hi Flo! I'm trying to pull together a modified version of your option 3. My chairs and ottomans get delivered on Thursday and the Pottery Barn table is backordered. They told me it will arrive sometime late September or early October. I'm going to stay on top of my Homegoods and Tuesday Morning circuit for two round wooden tables of the same size for either side of the sofa. And I really struggle with pillows, but I'm hoping to find something on the Internet. That should hold us until I get the rest of the main floor done! My next focus is my random hodgepodge pentagon sunroom.

Got em! Husband just sent the pictures so they're not ideal, but here's what I've got. In real life everything is centered. The PB table won't be delivered until the first week of October. Sigh. In the meanwhile, what do we think about either a sofa table or side tables? Too much? Do I need pillows and a throw too?
