IKEA Ringhult with what?

last modified: 10 years ago

Well, IKEA didn't launch what I really wanted in USA. So, do you think white Ringhult would go with dark brown Ekstad? Or the new styles, Voxtorp? Or, should I do all white Ringhult? My initial inspiration kitchen is this...

I think that you can mix-and-match many of the IKEA cabinet lines. What are the specific design elements that you like in the kitchen? I personally like the wood lower cabinet all white at the countertop and above look, but it is currently trendy. I would like to know where the dishwasher is in relation to where the every day dishes and glasses are. Since there is an enormous open prep space on either side of the kitchen sink I don't see what benefit is gained by foregoing upper cabinets on the stove side. I would like to know where the coffee pot and toaster are hiding. I dislike the stools at the counter, they look uncomfortable and appear to be dirty in comparison to everything else in the room. Anyway, you get the idea you have to really focus in on what it is that is pulling you into that picture.

Practigal, yeah I am not focusing on the layout. I am just using the color inspiration of white and wood cabinet mix. I feel like they pulled off an "airy" kitchen. I thought IKEA would bring in a light color cabinet door this year to complement the IKEA Ringhult, and they didn't. So now, I am stuck figuring out which IKEA cabinets to buy to mix with Ringhult to pull off the "airy" look.

    Any suggestions?

I'm not familiar with Ikea's current offerings

    So ringhult is glossy white?

To me that reads quite modern. The bjorket

    Or the torhamn

Seem like the closest matches to your inspiration photo.

But I'm not sure they go with the ringhult all that well? Especially the torhamn seems more rustic in feel. What about IKEA's other white door options, like voxtorp (which is matte so it seems slightly less modern to me)?

Or you could consider buying doors from one of the vendors that pre-drills for IKEA hardware, i.e. Barkers, semi handmade, etc.

Are you drawn to the high gloss/modern look of Ringhult? I have a hard time seeing it paired with anything other than modern slab doors/fronts, like walnut maybe?

Have you compared the Ringhult pricing with custom doors/fronts from semihandmade or the like?

Here are some semihandmade wood look options that cost 10% more than Ringhult. Semihandmade also sells a Painted White slab door for the same price as Ringhult, but not in high gloss.

Crl_ and Benjesbride, here is my dilemma. I already bought the Ringhult doors during their last sale so I am stuck with them. Yes, I guess I can go via Barker route. But what do you guys think about the Voxtorp walnut door? Will it be "airy" when paired with Ringhult?

    walnut

Why do you feel stuck with them, can't you return them? Did you lose the receipt?

Benjesbride, I thought ikea's policy was 30 days? it's I bought them back in May this year. Also I purchased the huge refrigerator panel already and had it delivered. I can't return it in my car.

*edit* I see it's 365 days for return period, but still, I don't have a car big enough to get the refrigerator panel back to IKEA.

I really like the Voxtorp door with the gloss white. The Ringhult is a really nice finish and some contrast to the more matte walnut will be lovely.

I think those could nice nice together, but I don't think they would look airy nor do I think it would be all that close to your inspiration picture.

jannicone and crl_, thank you. That's what I am worried about. I think the Voxtorp walnut would look fine with Ringhult. But, I don't think it would be airy in my kitchen. Maybe I should just do an all white kitchen (all Ringhult) and give up on the wood color.

You need a friend with a mini-van :-) If you love the Ringhult, I might pair it with something like the semi handmade tahoe. I think the Ringhult gives a much different feel than the white and wood shaker style cabs in your inspiration photo, though.

You might consider IKEA butcherblock countertops to bring in a wood element, if you think going two-tone with the cabinets will be too dark in your space.

Benjesbride, I looked at Barker doors, and I might go that route instead. A white oak quarter sewn slab drawer front is like half the price of Ringhult. Is it me or did IKEA raise their prices?

Last time I checked, ringhult was the highest priced Ikea door style. Annoying, because I don't think it's quite as nice as Abstrakt was in the old system. Doesn't have the depth to the finish.

As far as I know, sektion prices haven't changed since last year's release

We went to see Voxtorp walnut in person and it's beautiful but darker than I expected. It's out of the running.

More pics for folks considering it. The white is Ringhult.
