Choose something that coordinates with your granite. Make sure you love it. This might take a bit of shopping but it is worth it. You will get a ton of other peoples ideas but they most likely won't be your taste. Trust your own instincts It is your home after all.

I agree with Interiores on this lovely backsplash, that is gorgeous! However, I would repaint the kitchen a soft shade of blue and add some bamboo blinds with a fuller window valance. This is a beautiful room and your options are endless! Good luck!

Thanks so much for the ideas! I can't do blue on the wall b/c I'd have to repaint the rest of the downstairs. I was actually thinking of doing a bamboo shade! Just not quite there yet :) thanks again!

because your appliances are black, you really need to repeat that color. You should use larger tiles, small tiles make the space busier and more visually demanding. Reduce the confusion by keeping your materials and color choices tight. I would use a 6 X 6 cream porcelain tile with a 2 X 2 black accent tile at some of the intersections. Have you tile setter install on the 45 so that there is less of a margin (off square) to cover-up. The 45 degree is also the line of infinity and will not close the space in but rather expand it. I would do the walls in a light toast and lose the red valance....keep colors tight. Accessories can be earthy and bring in green.
