Ivory—the white shade is too stark, ivory will be a softer look. The size looks good. Nice looking table!

I like the idea of ivory. My sofa is lighter then what the photo shows and I do not think grey would look right in the room. I will be returning to the lighting store tomorrow to order the ivory.. They didn't have it in stock.

Those are very cool tables... The problem is that I have 2 other tables in that room, one is a antique library table that is dark wood and the other is a white marble top with dark base. I'm not sure how the nesting tables would fit in.

Now that I've had a few minutes to think about this, .........Since your sofa is cube-like in design, I think the room could benefit from low round accent drum tables and floor lamps instead of the more traditional table lamps. A more contemporary solution

I like the original table, as it does fill in that area a bit better (you could layer some lovely books on the lower shelf to make it more interesting/decorated. I would move it closer and centered to the couch - could even try turning it. It looks like you are trying to fill the corner vs complimenting the couch. I really like your second glass based lamp better - including the shape and color of the shade. The brown base of your original is too dark with the table and the shade's shape is a bit dated (no matter what color). Once you add art over the couch, the corner won't need to feel full - the art will take over. The other white topped table is also nice and would look great next to a single chair for example. I wouldn't be spending money on new tables, if your budget is small, as both of these are fine and more out of the ordinary. Suggest using the money instead on art.

Thank you Maureen. We just moved into this house after doing renovations and my budget is tight... Funny how furniture that looked right in my old home looks not quite right here! Oh well.. Moving on I have ordered the glass lamp from crate and barrel to use on the larger table.. The reason for the placement is I have never quite warmed up to that table!... But I agree the placement needs to be more centered. When you say turn it do you mean on a diagonal? I do own art and have a canvas piece that I love but I am not sure if it's large enough.

If you turn the table from horizontal to vertical, it may compliment the width of the couch and feel more balanced...just a thought. If your art is not large enough and you love it, consider adding smaller complimentary pieces and even a floating shelf - really depends on the piece and if it would suit.

if you like to read then use the square table to rest your books . You have beautiful pieces there ,the round one could go in a corner with the black base lamp on it .
