Eeyikes!, I went to plant it...and most of the root ball fell apart. I did everything I could to keep half intact. Back filled quickly and watered it deep.

My only other "tropical" guava is the Lemon. I'm giving this a try since it also looks nice with the reddish new leafs. But,if it does taste bad- even giving it a couple of years to build up- then out it goes.

I'm sure it will take off and grow quickly planted in the ground.

Last year I got few fruits and they are ripe in the winter so the taste not very good. One thing about this Guava is the Aroma very intense. I like to put one in my room and the whole room smell of guava. I love it.

So far Si,,its been lukewarm reviews for California Red Guava's. I think it needs a 2 year trial..if the fruits are still not good,then I can take it out.

The Lemon Guava since planting in ground has gotten better already. The foliage even looks better in just a couple of weeks. Fast rooting. My wife likes the fruits. At first she was skeptical they would be flavorful.. A relief!.
