You have too much dark wood going on in that house. You need to start breaking that up. I always find it awkward when people have a fireplace and a TV in the same room. Do you have another room for TV? If not, I would hang the TV on the wall where you currently have it over a piece of furniture that is not made of wood (do not sit it on another piece of wood furniture that is going to fight with the wood on that fireplace). Then I would pull that couch out into the center of the room facing the TV. I would get two patterned upholstered chairs (not in leather) and put those facing the fireplace on the side of the room where you currently have the couch. I would either put an end table on either side of the couch or a console table behind it with lamps. You need a bigger coffee table and again one that is not wood (like a gold metal table with a glass top). I would hang art work on the large wall where the couch currently is. I would remove that leather chair from that room. Then you need all of the accessories to decorate.
