Neat graft, rarely have I seen such a large one, most of the time, its a small scion, this gives me an idea incase I face a similar issue,thanks for sharing;)

Ditto & ditto ... Beautiful first attempt! I can't tell whether the graft is a diagonal V graft beside that yellow nub or a flat graft just below that same nub!

Very brave, Connie. I'm not experienced in this area (yet), but have to ask the obvious. One week and already unwrapped? Won't that potentially cause an issue with drying out? Or did you rewrap?

Maria Elena: it is a flat graft, under the node.

I couldn't get the right humid conditions on the plant/graft as the plants are kept indoors (too cold outside) so for that purpose there was no reason to keep the plastic on it any longer. As I used flexible superglue the scion was already well stuck to the plant's branch.

I unwrapped the other 2 grafts as well. One came off instantly, clearly not glued properly, I assume because both scion and rootstock were too thin.

The 3rd graft however has stuck and looks well too:

We'll see what happens to them in the next few weeks. After all, it was just a first attempt. I also stuck some of the cuttings of the old plant in pure perlite at the same time. Again, hard to keep my curiosity from taking them out to see if there's any roots developing yet, but I must. They show no signs of dying on me yet.

I have wondered how grafting more than a small piece would work. I have one old cutting that actually grew in better form once I removed it from its parent plant and rooted. I sometimes wonder if I could cut the roots and graft to a new caudex so it would have a nice caudex too.

My theory was that it could work because the larger stems would take much longer to dry/die than a small scion.

Great job. You used a slightly bigger scion then most it looks clean. I wonder I have a yellow nub like you I wonder if it could be re-cut maybe take a graft or let it sprout out.
