I just went through this myself. I ended up painting the cabinets a slightly greyer white than the trim and I'm happy with it. I certainly don't think it will look bad to do two different whites, UNLESS the two whites have clashing undertones. My own trim is BM white dove, and it's a pretty neutral white. I'm not familiar with the dover white, It looks somewhat yellower, or maybe more tan, but if you can take the two white paint chips into varying light conditions (outside, in shade, in sun, in incandescent lighting, etc. ) and they always look nice together, it will look good. One shouldn't be more pink or blue than the other.

Is there any place that the trim is right next to the cabinets? If so, then this is where the difference will show up - if Dover is yellower than Dove, then your trim might look slightly yellow next to your cabinets. If it's more tan, then I think it's a little safer - you'll see the "tan-ness" but it's neutral, so it won't matter so much. Dove white really is pretty neutral so it goes pretty well with other whites, just be aware that whatever the difference is between the two, it will stand out a bit wherever they are close to one another.

It will look like your tried to match and failed. I suggest Simply White for the cabinets. It will be more obvious that you were not trying to match.

I'm trying myself to choose between the two colors-are you glad you went with the SW Dover White? It looks really great to me! Also, do you know if they used semi gloss or high glass Dover White? Thanks!

I have SW Antique white semi-gloss for my upper cabinets. I ended up painting my ceiling SW Dover white in the matte, and woodwork decided to do Dover white in the semi-gloss. I chose the Dover White because it looked better with the Antique White and the counters that will be LG Viatera Soprano

I would go with Satin finish for cabinets

I went with satin when I first spray painted my doors on my old cabinets back in 2013. After it dried, I realized it didn't clean very well, so the top coat I used the semi gloss. SW Semi-gloss isn't really glossy like I remember semi-gloss 40 some years ago on cabinets my parents painted.

I'm 83, and I just purchased a small condo where everything is gray, walls, cabinets, kitchen flooring including carpet. I can't afford to change all, so want to paint the kitchen cabinets a white, but not bright white. I'm seeing SW Dover. I have to live with the color I pick. Please help on cabinets. I will be saving to paint the walls and trim a white that will work with the cabinets, and adding vinyl flooring. Thanks

I have SW Diver white trim. It would clash with most grays. It has yellow undertones..a warm color.

What color is the island please? Just getting ready to paint my cabinets Dover white.. still haven’t decided on island color!

The cabinets or the Granite? The cabinets were installed by the builder before we moved in so not sure. It was a very dark brown almost black in some light. I don't recall the name of the granite, but my understanding is most granite goes by different names so not sure that if I did recall it would even help. I had seen a very similar slab at Lowes that was a completely different name than what our installer called our slabs.

I know this is old but I have the opposite problem! I bought a house and all the trim is BM White Dove and the Kitchen, Laundry and Living Room cabinets are Dover White and it drives me crazy! My husband says "it is all white". UGH The Dover White looks so yellow in my space
