tv is too high and only the T.V stuff on the ledge

In concept ...I would prefer something more substantial under the tv...if that is not an option...maybe painting the shelf black would make it relate better to the tv as a unit ...there is very little surface to work with on the shelf...and the scale of the tv and the wall makes any decor on the shelf seem dinky and inconsequential by comparison...since the tv appears to also be right in a walk pattern...it looks sort of precarious as well...without seeing the rest of the room I may consider a different location for the tv if at all possible

thank you for your comments. unfortunately this is the only wall to put this tv

    another view of the room

If possible, lower the television a few inches. It also doesn't appear to be centered over the shelf. Don't try to decorate it, place only the cable box(s) on the shelf.

You should have put your window treatment dilemma with the TV dilemma. Is there any way to remove 1 section of the sectional? It is really crammed in there. The TV is too high for the seating so I would lower the ledge and TV and just the components on ledge as suggested above. I would do roman shades on the windows.

Re your other post for window treatments. It looks like you could use something to prevent reflection/glare on the television. Since you don't have easy access to the window, I'd go for a multifunction shade.

Hi, I would start by lowering the tv as suggested by Patricia and centering the shelf. Again a as Patricia suggested lose the small decorative items if you need a bit of something a slim box in a metallic silver. You have a lovely wall color by your front door add a couple of soft square stools in the same or darker shade under the shelf. This will add interest without taking up much space, but force people to walk a bit further from the television (less fear it will get bumped).

good ideas! thank you!! the person that built the mantel and hung the tv is very tall

That mantel needs to be removed I would put a piece of furniture underneath the TV and hang the TV appropriate to that height.

Really pretty house! I agree that a console would look better under the tv. Since someone made the ledge maybe you could put it in another room.

    A console

We had our TV on the equivalent wall, but hated that the neighbourhood could watch TV with us. We moved it to the adjacent wall and rotated the furniture 90 degrees. Love it. I do also agree that the tv could be mounted much lower.

I would try having some sort of shelving piece that sits on the floor under the tv. You also might want to try putting some decorations on the wall around the tv. This link has some great options to go with your area http://www.zazzle.com/krafty_kreations

Get a longer shelf. Mount the TV off center to the shelf and wall. That will give you room to add a large piece of pottery, a basket, or a vase (empty!). It will look modern and clean, without loading down the area with smaller things.

Here is a suggestion from one of our various designs. Maybe try a TV console?
