Are you sure you need a "pro" range? Most of them are so substantial that they require very large vent hoods, with the result that you may actually need more air in your house (a "make-up air system"). Maybe just a regular 36" home range from a high-end company?

You are right. I have had several gas stoves over the past 40 years and really want a high end residential gas stove. The reviews are completely confusing. No idea which to look at.

Budget and looks would be the first thing to consider. How much do you want to spend? Does that get you a Home Depot special? Bluestar? Capital? Wolf? Lacanche? There are many other brands as well.

In terms of looks, do you want the all-stainless look, the red knobs, or something more classic, with color?

Once you have narrowed this down, then you can get into the details of which burners are best (open or sealed), oven type (gas, electric, convection, steam, speed...)
