Mobile seating for the added flexibility.

Mobile is obviously more flexible, fixed could work if it really added to the design aesthetic and layout...but mobile could do that just as easily..

All been said for me.

Mobile seating makes for a more enjoyable experience on a breezy night so people can adjust their chairs to avoid the smoke, or group into smaller conversations etc.

You definitely need the functionality of moveable seating with a fire pit.

Moveable for sure! Some people like to be close to the fire while others, not so much. We did a lot of camping over the years with family and friends.

Depends on the space, design intent and Client's desires for the function of the space. A mixture of fixed and moveable seating is often a good compromise.
