best options to contrast wood kitchen cabinets with white oak floor

We are remodeling our entire, completely dysfunctional house, and the kitchen is the heart of it. We know we want wood stained cabinets, and we are very budget conscious. We tend to like warmer tones - our kitchen will have a very farmhouse feel to it.

We know also that we want white, or close to, counters.

Our floors are white oak, and we will refinish them, and are open to staining them too.

We don't like it when the kitchen cabinets and floors are the same - but love a contrast.

Would love suggestions for:

- should we go lighter or darker on the floors so they don't show as much wear and tear? We also have a dog currently that sheds light - so that is part of the mix. We've had white oak that had a urethane finish and wherever water hit it, the finish wore down and then black streaks in the wood were part of our life. It didn't look good.

- we are doing a simple inset Kraftmaid cabinet and there are many wood and stain options.... would love suggestions of what stain/wood choice would look best with the white oak floor? (depending on if we kept it unstained, or stained light or dark) Rustic, but not too rustic, as we have different opinions. Kraftmaid has a lot of wood grain and stain options.

- we are a VERY HIGH TRAFFIC house hold - with generally 13 inhabitants. So wear and tear is as big a factor with the cabinets as the floor. We just cant afford to re-tile. That is also why we are not going white on the cabinets, as much as we love that look.

Appreciate any pictures, design suggestions, anyone might have. It feels overwhelming at best.
