Yes, patina on a countertop is exactly like it is on sterling silver flatware - a whole bunch of scratches that age nicely and cause patina. The first few are horrifying but with use, one quickly gets enough to call it "patina". It's the same with fine box leather on an expensive handbag only that takes YEARS to develop.

imposters. It's not hard to tell them apart, but you do have to test the
stone - don't take people's word for it! Oh, and note there is no such
