I appreciate this advice. I will definitely get a retangular rug, but I really don't like my table and mirror on that wall and wondered if I moved it to one of the other walls what would you put on the wall where they were?

I like the tableau .... I would hang the mirror higher, remove the frame, and straighten the stacked books and vase.

If you move the small console and mirror to another wall, you could try this beautiful Moroccan umbrella stand in that area. But before you decide on that perhaps you could show us a photo of how the console and mirror look on another wall. No need to hang the mirror for the photo, just prop it on top of the table, against the wall.

I believe I answered my own question after I moved the table to the larger wall. The smaller bare wall hit me like a ton of bricks.

Yes, I think the original position was good, although you could add a lamp if you want. Put art on the walls, in gilt frames if you're looking for formality...

Are you open to painting the top half of the wall? Above the chair rail? That could be fun.

Sometimes things don'g work out like you think they will. But other times it just takes time to adjust to a new look. You have a nice big wall for a larger console, which would have to have an open bottom because of the vent on the wall. But at least a console would somewhat conceal the vent. Consider finding a longer console for the entry wall and then find a sculpture to put atop a pedestal in the bare corner.

Thanks so much for the advice. Any chance a floor clock sort of a black rounded top one would look good on the small wall or would that be too much if I did the long console?
