We are switching from an electric to a gas range and want to install a vent hood. Yes we are removing the microwave but the top of the range to the bottom of the cabinet is 28". (Right now the space from our range top to the bottom of the microwave is only 13.5 inches!!!?! It was this way when we moved in) Is there a way to cut the cabinet and not have it look horrible? Or if we install a behind cabinet vent hood how can we get some slim enough to fit and make the clearance acceptable? The other problem is the face of the cabinets are all one solid piece of wood so if we cut it, I am afraid it would fall apart.
