I wonder if you might get more response if you specify more precisely where you are geographically? Zones only tell us your average annual Winter minimum and can cover a variety of different climates. I will be sowing favas and peas in November to over winter as small plants. But I don't know what your winters are like so you might be able to grow something different.

Good point! I am on the Texas Gulf Coast which has not had a freezing temperature in several years. When it does get below freezing, it lasts only a day or two. Otherwise, it is hot and humid. Thanks for responding.

concur: In georgia I plant English peas (Pisum Sativum) in late November to overwinter. Hwowever isnce you are basicly in almost a frost free zone. You can still plant short season common beans( p. vulgaris) Which I have plant in early August for a fall crop of snap beans. I don't grow Fava(Vicia faba) but they like cool weather so might be a good winter crop for you.

I live in 9b, FL west coast. Usually I plant bush beans in fall timed so they are ready for Thanksgiving. This year, for the first year, I intend to plant pole beans in late September. When we have frost, it is usually not before Christmas.
