And today I found 3 of them (out of 15) germinated already!

Now a few questions:

- Do you think I should transplant the seedlings to soil now or wait until they got those 2 baby leaves?

- For Michigan growing, these have to stay indoor over late fall / winter. Is it ok to leave them by window sill, or do I need to give them some artificial lights?

I would give them artificial light indoors - given your northern location, the windowsill might be too cold for them. I planted my first batch of obesum seedlings last November (not a good time, but I couldn't wait!), and they did fine under a tabletop T5 light unit in my library. As for transplanting, if you started them in about a 2 inch layer of soil, they should be fine undisturbed for a couple of months.

Hello Dave, I'm also in a cool part of the globe and have some more seedlings sprouting as I write :-) I would put them into some deeper media very carefully, and not wait till they get more leaves as they've only got that 1/4 depth at the moment. It's surprising how long the tap root can grow in a short time so it doesn't want to be restricted IMHO. I keep my seedling mix rather fine, no big lumps to damage those delicate new roots.

I mix ordinary potting mix with seived perlite for seed germination, moving them onto mixes with grit in when they are bigger.

If you could swap the vermiculite for perlite in your later mixes I would also suggest that too. Vermiculite can break down over time, it also holds a lot more water than perlite and can add to the problem that soggy mixes can lead to root rot so not many of us advocate its use. That said its just our opinion and people tend to use what works for themselves given the conditions they can provide for their plants....in other words it's personal choice. Bear in mind though that germinating and newly emerged seeds do need a more water bearing mix. They grow at their fastest rate whilst tiny.

My Adeniums all live permanently indoors and once sprouted in the boiler cupboard the seedlings join the others on the south facing Windows and take their chance without extra heat, sun he is sporadic even in summer! I do however place an angle poise lamp over them during the evenings for a bit of a light boost. So far so good :-)

I have moved 3 to a cup with potting soil. Two more just germinated. And I will give them some extra light soon. :-)
