Gazebos have roofs. Do you have photos?

I thank you for your inquiry. The "roof" of the gazebo is composed of 2" X 10"beams spaced a foot apart. That permits plenty of sunshine, and until the vine grows up and takes over, I won't have very much shade. I need to plant something that will provide some shade in the interim. This is low desert, and shade and perhaps a misting system is necessary for any comfort. There must be trees that grow up a bit and then spread out. Or bushes that do that. Be grateful for your thoughts and help.

Thanks for explaining the roof structure. I suggest you look at shade cloth from OSH or another garden/home center instead of plants in your desert area. Not much will grow faster than bougainvillea once its roots are established and it gets lots of water and compost or some complete fertilizer. It can easily throw out 8 foot branches or longer. It will be spectacular once it gets going.

I thank you. I was thinking of getting a bush or small tree that had

floppy branches.
