Centipede Care Help

Hey everyone, I was hoping someone would be able to help me in tending to some issues with my lawn.

As a backstory, the lawn was laid in February as rolled sod, so it's still fairly new. I have a sprinkler system, so water is not an issue, and I live in SC. At this point the lawn is pretty well grown in, and a solid mat, as in, there are no seams, or lines.

There are 2 issues I am having, and am not really sure how to treat them.

1. I have fertilized twice now. Once in May, and once in early July. For about 3 weeks after, the lawn is a beautiful lush, and thick green with rapid growth. After those 3 weeks, it tends to thin out slightly, and in some parts, kind of yellows, where as in other areas it stays a beautiful lush, thick green.

2. I am still having some slight weed problems. I was under the impression that once the lawn grows in thick, given that centipede is almost like a carpet that it would almost "drown" out weeds.

I have read in some places that the cause could possibly be that the PH is off, and that lime would work in resolving it? The other possibility is that this is still a new lawn, so needs some more time to settle in, and set?

I appreciate all assistance as I am just looking to learn how to take care of Centipede as it's an entirely new style, as I am formerly from the frozen north.

Thank you!
