May need lots more sun depending on how they looked when you bought them. They can take full sun as long as they do not dry out completely.

Could be too wet (I would not use a lot of peat moss as this will set up rot if kept wet all the time). When you repotted them did you strip off the old potting mix? If so, then it might take a couple of weeks to recover from stress. If not, then it may be just too wet, not enough light...

PS - do not use a pebbles/rocks in the bottom of pots - they often set up the plant for failure instead of success.

Thanks for the info. I'm novice as you can tell, but have done some research. Peat moss wasn't suggested but the soil I had turned muddy(cheap walmart soil they keep outside) so I thought to cut it with the Moss. Maybe a beginner mistake. I left the soil on the roots when I repotted. It's packed in tight. So I'm going to take your advice and give it more sun. Does this require pruning to allow light to get to the base of the plant?

You do not have to prune. If it was grown in sun, then you want to keep it in sun. If it was semi-shaded then you would take a week or two edging it into more and more sun. Getting late in the growing season doesn't allow a lot of time to get a lot of growth unless you are in Florida or southern CA. If you plan on overwintering it, keep it under lights or a sunny window - you may want to prune in that case and barely water through the winter months (unless it is growing a lot). It is easier to just buy a new one in spring and start out right.

I think this was my first one about 10 years ago grown in full sun on our deck where the air temps are usually over 100 every day in summer. It took a lot of water but it was still amazing that it didn't show any stress unless it got a bit dry.

In Tampa at Busch Gardens they had huge hanging baskets of them in lush growth.

There are pink forms as well and a variegated one that I hope will become a big hit at the stores soon. The other waxy begonias that have been out for a few years now are simply named 'Big' for their big blooms. I bought two huge hanging baskets this spring from HD for around $8 per pot - one green form and one a bronze form. It is much easier to treat these as annuals and buy a big beautiful pot of them in the spring grown by a pro greenhouse.

I love ❤ all the advice you gave on this post. I saw another post that said to plant them in nothing BUT peat moss. Just in these few posts I have learned a lot of little things. Such as the being able to take the 100° Heat in full sun ☀. In my new house I purchased just over 3 yrs ago there was one in the back south facing yard and let the fall leaves cover it throughout winter and this summer it blossomed but it was strange looking. I LOVE ❤ having found this site. I'm going to drive you all crazy with questions.
