You could not press at all and nest the seams as you sew, the press when it's all assembled.

I plan my pressing - makes me feel better when I'm actually working on the quilt.

I twirl them at the intersections. On occasion I have to allow an oops because I messed up. ☺

Thanks so much. Given I'm such a novice, everything seems like a big deal. When I figured out yesterday that the seams wouldn't nest, it seemed like a huge chore. After it sunk in, it didn't seem like such a chore. I just had to rearrange my plan. I need to do my layout one step ahead of what I'd planned, that's all. I have not figured out whether to group the colors or to mix them up. I'll just have to do that now, instead of later.

Sometimes when ironing you encounter a junction that didn't

I try to be good and have all my seams properly pressed and nested. Now for reality, they don't. I just do the best I can, or like toolgranny and clip the seam.
