Podocarpus.

Is it real or plastic?

OMG, the guy at the store said it was "Portulacactus" - of course that wasn't right (like portulaca, tree is nowhere near succulent). This is a live tree. Thanks so much. I'm so excited now to research it.

It sure is beautiful!!!

Gorgeous tree. Not sure which species it is so maybe someone will be able to nail that for you. I don't think it's the Asian Podocarpus macrophyllus (Buddhist Pine); it may be an African species. I only see two species of Podocarpus being sold P. macrophyllus and another, more tropical species, whose identity I believe is Podocarpus gracilior (Weeping Podocarpus), an African species.. All are very primitive conifers (think Jurassic Park times). I have only grown the more cold hardy P. macrophyllus (both as a houseplant and outside in the ground). My experience with them is that they are easy houseplants but resent getting overly dry. In the Winter, as is true for nearly all plants, cooler and moister is preferable to hot and dry conditions.

Good luck with it!

Podocarpus gracilior, yes what sub says. So lovely.
