Baughmann V. Eames

Not sure if this should be here or in Convo, but...

My broker and her husband are just completing their new build. They are in their 70s. (He is a high-end home builder).

Unfortunately, they've decided they designed their den too small, which it is. this is where they watch TV and relax. Space is a factor, therefore.

In their old house, he had a gorgeous but big and bulky leather recliner. This house, he wanted an Eames chair but the price is off-putting for them.

Recently someone here had a thread in which the Baughmann Recliner was brought up. Size-wise, it is perfect for their room because it is so streamlines and it has the retractable foot rest.

My questions are:

Has anyone compared comfort between the Eames and Baughmann? Opinions?

Does anybody have any knowledge of Eames knockoffs/reproductions? Are they identical to the authentic Eames other than the price? Or is it a risk (and a ripoff) to get a reproduction?

I prefer the Baughman for comfort. I own a knock off eames, they are not a good as the Original in terms of comfort and stability. The Baughman is also reasonably priced. I would look at the DWR outlet on Ebay for both the Eames and the Baughman. Another favorite from DWR is the Flight Recliner. Great look and quite comfy.

I never new what a Baughman was until I saw the recent thread, but it turns out my parents had a couple (bought in the mid-60s). I have no idea if they were originals or knockoffs, they're long gone. Anyway, they were super comfortable -- those were the chairs everyone "fought' over. (I also didn't know about the DWR outlet, so thanks for that info!)
