Put the wall back. And you need a temp support wall in there until you get headers and some studs in place. What kind of direction did your structural engineer provide you that you didn't do that????

HI -- A good plumber should be able to help you with this . Ask a couple of them first to see .. if they say different things then go with the one that can make this problem better for your reno .

I definitely don't want to put the wall back. It's not a structural or load bearing wall - I just want to open up the kitchen and make it larger...almost every other unit in the line has done this - in those apartments the pipes went straight up and down - for some reason in my apt they curve awkwardly...just looking for an aesthetically pleasing fix.

What is the distance from the top pipes to where the bottom hits? I'd call a good licensed plumber to tell you what he can do, maybe have the top run down straight then slant starting countertop height? Plumber consult is a must ;-)

yes if they zig below counter height instead of up in the air you couldn't have open space but you could have open space above a counter.

Get someone who knows what they are doing NOW. Did you get the permits and permission from the condo board to do this and it depends on where the actual fixtures in the unit above you these are all things that need to be addressed before you remove a wall
