You could get a really large light coloured rug to lighten the room.
I actually like your chairs and your window dressing.
What don't you like about your current chandelier? Would you like a more modern one?
You could paint the chairs if you like and reupholster the seats.

I like carolins suggestion of the rug. I think updating the chandelier would be nice. I really like the chairs and a cream color could look great. But I am also thinking even getting a cream colored round table will look even better, and then keep the chairs as is. I feel like the glass top table is too light for everything and disappearing.

Then for the walls a robins egg blue would look great with those chocolate colors you have going on in the fabrics.
You might want to also put a pair of lamps or candlesticks on the buffet.

Thank you! Yes, I need a chandelier that is more modern and that fills up the space a bit better. I have 2 children and I thought a rug may not be the best way to go here. If you still think it a good idea, what would you recommend?

Great ideas! I was going to paint this room F&B Shaded White. What do you think about that color for this room? And I'm a little shy about the blue chandelier above, but like the shape. I just saw the Alessandra capiz at Ballard and I'm wondering if it was between that, the one above and a barrel shaded chandelier with some bling as shown below, what would you buy?

Would this capiz work or the one below?

Or would this Troy Sausalito work in the room?

I believe you have another thread going on the same room that some people have commented on. One of the suggestions was an orb chandelier similar to what you would find at ballard or restoration hardware. I thought that was a good suggestion. The one suggested had a bit more bling.
