Can this be spice base cabinet be painted?

The description states that it is " 1/2' Grade A Melamine Plywood" on the side panels. This seems contradictory to me. Melamine is plastic, not wood. Please advise as to whether or not this can be primed and painted to match existing cabinets, and WHAT is this actually made of? Thank you.
