Hutch transformation with chalk paint

Online buy and painted project - door knobs still to swap for cream - vintage moosehead hutch.
What are your thoughts of painted pieces?
The final idea was to distress but DH is so proud and protective that distressing will probably have to happen slowly over time.

Love it!! I am a big fan of painting furniture. I myself have painted a few items including an 8ft tall French Country Ethan Allen media Armoire! I have only used Chalk Paint on a bathroom vanity and really liked the way it turned out.

Although I do like the look of some distressed painted pieces, I myself prefer more of a Cottage look and prefer not to distress what I paint. I do add bead board to many pieces for a more country look though.
