I Was missing you lately, Sharon.

Ah Sept.! Whatever shall I do. I am tired of making placemats, 8 sets. Nothing else really calling me but I think I will give that Scrap Jar Star a trial. I am sure something else will pop up though. So no great plans for this month.

I made a few blocks of that pattern a couple years ago, Theresa. They were fun, easy and used up scraps.

That was the shortest August ever! Sharon, I'm sure you'll get all your stuff done and more, you always do. I'm waiting for the storm, too. It rained all day yesterday but this morning has been calm, I know not for long, though. I've got this quilt going with leftover fabric from the sofa slipcovers, I figured the new look on the sofa deserved a new couch quilt, too. I always keep one on the couch. I have one on there now that fits with the blue denim slipcovers but it's just a tad too short when I want to snooze, it keeps riding up and not covering my feet. So that's my only goal. Oh, I might sew a couple of pillow slip covers for the local LQS - they are holding a slipcover sew-in day in September but they said if you want you can make them at home and bring them in, looks like they will mainly go to children so since I have no juvenile novelty prints I'll have to see what would be suitable in my stash. Hope the storm is kind to both you and Donna.

My goal is to be prepared to go to retreat in October. :) I want to have everything cut up and put into kits so that I can just sew sew sew! I probably will not get much else done here this month as I am spending the next 2 weekends at my mom's house. 15 years ago when I moved to where I am now, I placed 2 households and an antique shop in my mom's 3 car garage and her spare bedrooms. Next weekend it is all going up for sale. Anything that does not sell is going to charity. I have spent the last 6 months every other weekend going up there and sorting through the stuff. We also went through all my mom's stuff, so it is going to be a huge sale.

Well, I finished the lotto blocks for the rest of the year and will send them to Linda today. My Antique Star quilt is at the longarmer, so when it comes back I need to bind and label it. I also need to label our great-grandson's quilt and sandwich, quilt, bind and label another child's quilt for my friend's granddaughter. I have several quilts all kitted up that I should work on (read UFOs), but I haven't been inspired to do them yet. I still need to quilt a top that I made from the Wild Duck lotto blocks a year or mored ago and an Asian quilt that I made for myself. Lots to do, but September is a busy month for me and then there's that trip to Cuba in early October. I guess I'll just see how it goes and not plan too much.

Mine is a much more modest than others. I posted earlier in the year that I was going to do some quilting this year after long hiatus. I'm going to make a flower block to go with others I have from an exchange from years ago. I'd like to have four more before end of year so September goal is to make one.

I don't have any quilting goals this month. Just wanted to thank Sharon for posting that cat block. Very cute!

If any of you are watching The Weather Channel and see the guys in Cedar Key, we are just south of there. It appears the storm will land further north than first thought so since we live roughly 4/5 miles from the coast, we will/are just getting storm surge. Other than that and some wind/tornadoes, I think we'll be ok.

Glad you like the cat block, Jennifer. I thought it was easy and cute.

Since I started making less goals, the list is easier to complete. lol

I want to finish piecing the two tops in the works for the orphanage and start a third. When the third is pieced, I'll give it to a friend to finish. She finished the first one and it looks great, other than my slight mess up with the pattern. The founder of the African ministry arrived last night for his yearly visit, so I'll be hosting a dinner for my Sunday school class this month. I would love to be able to show him a couple of the quilts. Plan on participating in Lotto, found some black and white fabric so I won't have to buy anything.

This weekend I REALLY want to finish the two quilts that have been my goal for the last several months. I am really ready to move on to something else.

Dear grandson arrived around 3:30am and said we needed to evacuate and he was there to take us. We were not flooded but electric had been out for awhile so no A/C or TV and not able to charge our electronics. A tree blocked our road down the way, but he drove his Jeep around it. Downtown and boat ramps are all underwater. They're saying 4 feet of water in town. Low tide should be coming soon.

Stay safe, Sharon! We're just having rain and some wind (more of a strong breeze) here in Orlando. It was dark and raining pretty hard at 6:45 this morning so I made my DH drive me to work. I hope he'll come back to get me at quitting time. :)

Sharon, it sounds like your goal for September should have been to stay dry. I'm so glad your grandson took you to safety. I hope you don't suffer any damage to your home. Take care.

Sharon I was especially concerned about you with all they said about your area. It was bad enough here. So much rain that I was getting pretty worried since it doesn't run off the South part of our property fast enough. (Hard-pan clay soil 6 inches down.) Yesterday there were 3 tornado warnings here, last night was pretty rough, howling wind and rain and lightning, then the power went off at 3:00 a.m. It was down for 6 hours. And now the phone is messed up. I'm better off than a lot of folks though, especially on the Gulf. But my nerves are shot, I think I'll fix myself a double margarita when DIL gets home tonight.

We're ok and back home with electric. Downtown was submerged....most of the cute little shops that are in the 'old and touristy' Crystal River were flooded (LQS was not). DGS is a manager at our local Denny's and at 8pm they were still without power. Since it's only a mile away, I was surprised, plus there's a Day's Inn right next door to it. Thanks for all the prayers and concern.......Rita, I'd like to join you.

Sharon and Rita, I'm so glad you and your properties are okay! Rita, one time we were on a cruise and it was rough going trying to stay ahead of a hurricane. The next night they had a deck party with free margaritas! So, evidently they are the treatment of choice for recovering from bad weather. :)

Sept 24th is the date today. What have I completed? Not much. The Frozen quilt is done (as you know) and the UFO has been worked on. I really would like to finish it this month......and maybe I will. I have 2 of the Be My Neighbor quilt-along blocks completed but need to get the 3rd one started. No more kitty-cat blocks made though.

Since last Thanksgiving, my 2 step-grandchildren here in Florida have lost both grandfathers and a few days ago, one of their grandmothers. Please keep them in your prayers........thank you.
