kitchen countertop dilemma

I originally chose Taj Mahal quartzite, however that option is no longer available to me. i went back out searching but have not found anything thst speaks to me. One salesperson suggested bkack however I cannot see it and feel black is out of style. suggestions?

Black counters are in style with the right kitchen but I don't think your kitchen will suit - the contrast would be too much; taking away from your lovely floor and also limiting your backsplash. Work with your floor and don't make the decision without some tile selections. I love the combination below for your kitchen and if you are worried about resale, it's a timeless and easy to live with look.

One concern is the black counters are not in style and should we sell the home be a negative feature

Beautiful kitchen so far. IMO black would be to harsh. Maybe a light to medium grey as I see grey in your floor on my monitor.

I would do a White Quartz and a mosaic white backsplash.. Super neutral. Then add color with accessories.

I would look into getting butcher block. IKEA make a really good quality butcher block. It will look amazing with your cabinets. A marble hex shape tile for the backsplash.

I agree, I don't think black is the best color. Quartzite color sounds gorgeous. I would stay with a lighter tone.

try to insist on the Taj Mahal quartzite, sometimes "after 02 weeks there is a new block available",

Other options: Perla Venato quartzite, Quartzite Cielo (light blue-grey), Ice Flakes (will have more gold color), Elegance quartzite (has a hint of mauve)

Daniel. Thank you because after days of searching and looking at hundreds of slabs, I nade a décision this morning. Cristallo was way too expensive and then I found a good comparable. See photos. I feel much better.

Super white? It's a quartzite as well. (names vary for the same type, so I don't know what Taj Mahal is) There is also a quartz countertop that mimics the look of a carrara marble. You can check into that.

this 2nd pic will give you an idea of what the black would like like. You could do a combo. Also, look into soapstone countertops. They aren't a harsh black and will never go out of style.

never mind...i see you went with a creamy brownish countertop. I don't think that looks the best with white cabinets (and off white would go better w/that choice) plus I believe it may clash w/your flooring, but its your kitchen! Your kitchen is beautiful!! I love what you've done so far. I think the countertop you picked would look better w/wood floors. I also like the idea of a butcher block on the island to warm things up a bit. Please share a pic when it's all finished!

Beth. The tiles I now realize I should have not chosen until last. The grey tiles have too much of warm undertones so the whites are too stark. The cabinets are a very, very light almond that is where I kept hitting road blocks. I will post a photo. Thank you.

Gabbie, very beautiful Perla Venato: excellent choice!

Actually Perla Venato and Taj Mahal come from the same rock, operated by different companies there in northeast of Brazil.

Gabbie, can you please share a photo of your finished kitchen. I also have white cabinets with the same Perla venato quartzite and I think it's beautiful!!! However, I'm having difficulty finding a backsplash, would like to know what you used. Thanks

kitchen is finally done. Perla Venato counters and island. backsplash is marble. Very subtle.

Like ours which has many tiles sticking out / and not flat, is that the problem? Why can't they push it to make it flush-flat?

i wish i knew. my tile setter has done fantastic work except this time. he said it is the tile. i asked him to come back and try to cut out the terrible section however he never came back.

@Gabbie. I really like your kitchen. Looking at your slab, I thought there was too much movement for the tiles. But your kitchen is beautiful, complete. Backsplash would not have been my choice but that's just me. Be proud, hope you're thrilled with the result.

i wanted perla venato as backsplash however i should have decided that before undermount lighting had gone in because i would have had to resize a little. not thrilled however i will live with it
